Description

The Community Emergency Response Team Training teaches you how to be prepared for a disaster.

The training teaches you how to be prepared for yourself, to take care of your family, and to safely help your neighbors out.

The first step is to organize.

This meeting is for the community members of Highland Park to start to build their community disaster response plan.

  • CERT Staging Areas are where CERT trained responders will go to form response teams
  • Family Reunification Centers / Public Gathering Areas are where the general public can go to get information from public agencies
  • Two Way Radio Communications Plan will give responders ability to communicate if cell phone networks are down

This will be the first quarterly Highland Park specific meeting to develop the response plan that will cumulate in an annual Highland Park Community Drill.

Since we are having this at Coco's Restaurant, we do have a minimum food order required. If you are going to join us for dinner, please show up at 7pm to order food.

There is no obligation to eat there or spend any money.
This meeting is open to everyone. If you are not eating there, feel free to show up at 7:30pm.

The actual meeting will start at 7:30.

Organized by

The Highland Park Community Emergency Response Team is dedicated to building neighborhood preparedness and disaster self-reliance.  During a disaster, such as an major earthquake, or wind storms that take out power lines, fire and EMS may be overwhelmed.  The CERT team deploys into their own neighborhoods and helps their neighbors until professional responders can arrive.
